The investment decision for the Housihe Pumped Storage Hydropower Plant project in Gongyi City, Henan Province?was?recently?approved, marking the completion of all the preliminary work and its?offfical entry into the?construction?phase.
The?Housihe Pumped Storage Hydropower Plant,?located?in Gongyi?City,?Henan Province,?with?a designed installed capacity of 1,200 MW. It is a key implementation?project under China’s?Medium and Long-Term Development Plan for Pumped Storage (2021–2035) during the 14th Five-Year Plan period and a key?construction?project?of?Henan Province. The?project is?scheduled?to have?its?first generating unit operational by 2029, with full commissioning by 2030. Once completed, the hydropower plant will primarily support?Henan's power grid through?peak shaving, frequency regulation, phase modulation, and emergency backup?services. It will improve the power supply capacity and operational?stability, effectively mitigating?peak load shortages and reducing?energy supply pressure.
As the?investment entity of the project,?CYPC?implements?China Three Gorges Corporation's ?"plan-invest-build-operate" mechanism of?the?pumped storage projects,?collaborating with China Three Gorges Construction Engineering Corporation to advance the project efficiently with guaranteed quality. Additionally, it?continues?to deepen ?the?“pumped storage?+?new energy”?integrated developmet?model, boosting China Three Gorges Corporation's high-quality?growth in?pumped storage business and contributing Three Gorges' strength to the construction of China's new-type power system.
